Yeeee -haw!

So, it’s an absolute scorcher today – for us at any rate. temperature is 26 degrees, not a cloud in the sky and a gentle wind from the ocean (whic is nice and cool – it’s gorgeous).

We decided to try something new today – it’s Foundation Day, a public holiday celebrating the founding of the state of Western Australia, so most places are closed – apart from the usual recreational type stuff: restaurants, bars and so on… so we headed over to The Lone Ranges in Belmont.

Yep, we joined a gun club 🙂

We took the training package, which included a lot of safety (I hadn’t really planned to look down the barrel or put my hand in front of a loaded gun, but there were a few bits that were not so obvious – like making sure your left hand thumb stays clear of the slide on a semi-auto pistol).

first up was the lightweight fun stuff – we each got 50 rounds on a combination of a .22 Smith and Weston revolver, and a  .22 Ruger semi-automatic. The revolver was fun, but the semi- oh man.

when that was done, we moved up the firepower range a bit (quite a bit), with a Glock 9mm Semi-automatic – wow. absolutely insane feeling – the recoil was incredible, the thump from the sound… I think we have found a new stress relief hobby!

    Wow!

Sounds like a blast (c’mon even I couldn’t let that pub past). I hope you did better than I did on my one attempt with a handgun. Not that hard though I totally missed an A4 sized target at 12.5m.

Seriously, not one shot, the target could be reused for the next guy – lol.

Ok that should have said “pun past”

    Freudian slip.

it’s helluva addictive – out of ten rounds with the 9mm Glock, I put six of them in the centre red – the target was like this one: http://shooting-targets.net/targets/oval.jpg the other four were all to the right… which is apparently caused by me putting my index finger all the way through the trigger, rather than just using the fingertip – you put a slight rightward force on the gun as you fire, and it gets slightly worse as your hand tired from the recoil.

not sure what to do next time, try to improve with the Glock, or try one of the others – desert eagle perhaps? 😀

Ah, but its got nothing to do with heights, so its all fine 🙂
Juggling chainsaws, riding motorbikes, shooting guns – all fine
As long as its not done at height, its all good.

    Was great fun too 😀
I hit the target with all but 1 bullet, we did it at the minimum range (which I think is 10m) for each gun for most of it, then with the last go pushed it right to the back (18m I think) and I still hit the sheet of paper – and mostly the target. So I am pleased 🙂
